I think that you are right about the formatting issues.  I am currently
working on merging some changes in from the Fulcrum version that does
handle the date formatting.  Nothing has been done _yet_ to address the
formatting of other field types though.  

If you would be willing to take a stab at coming up with a way to handle
formatting for other field types, patches are welcome!!  :)

FYI - The formatting for the date field is handled in the toString()
method of DateStringField.  The format string used for the format is the
first date format rule found in intake.xml for that field.
