Velocity is a templating engine - it is useful for producing output, but not
for accepting input.

Intake is used for validation.

If all you want to do is access the text that was entered by the user you
can use
    data.getParameters.getString("HTMLElementName")
Or
    $data.Parameters.HTMLElementName
Depending on if you are in an action/screen or a template respectively.

You seem to be just starting out with turbine, why don't you use 2.2?
