Is VelocityScreen java required in Turbine 2.2

Hello,
Please, could you tell me if VelocityScreen java is required in TDK 2.2? We have templates that are getting context objects only from Action and therefore in the VelocityScreen is nothing. In TDK 2.1. we had to have those empty VelocityScreen java files? It seems to work without them in TDK 2.2. Is that right?
