It is possible to run Turbine from the jar. Unjaring Turbine was suggested
in order to try tracking down a classpath problem. I'm still not sure what
the exact problem was but glad you have it working. If you want to spend
the time now, you should be able to get it working in the jarred state. You
should spend some time learning exactly how each of the various paths in the
properties files are interacting, then try to get it set up in a way that
makes sense to you. You might want to spend a little time with it in a
working state before going back to the frustrations you were experiencing
though.
