It is a bad thing though because it doesn't prevent you from MT problems
at all.

Again, that is all dependent on how you develop the application, so there
is no good answer to that question.
Remember, Turbine is simply a development methodology and a bunch of code
to back that up. It isn't an application server, so asking how well it
"scales" doesn't really apply from the app server point of view. To ask
how well it "scales" from a developer point of view, I can tell you that
hasn't been an issue. Turbine is just a servlet. It will scale as well as
your servlet engine will scale.
One of the beauties of Turbine is that you can have N number of engineers
all working on different portions of the project without stepping on each
others toes (especially when used in conjunction with CVS). This is
because it does such a good job at abstracting everything. Multiple
develoeprs can work with multple designers all at the same time.
I know that Clear Ink has done two rather large projects using Turbine.
One was a very complex business logic application for the movie industry
and another is for a large wireless telcom company.
