I would like to alter the way templates are specified in a Turbine url. I
am proposing that we move the template path to the beginning of the pathinfo
and treat it specially so that we do not have to use , (comma) or . (period)
as the path separator.
Changes to ParameterParser:
PP will read the pathinfo looking for one of three special tokens: screen,
action, noaction. It will then assign the part of the pathinfo before the
first of these tokens to the "template" parameter. Everything after gets
assigned as queryinfo. I am also proposing the "noaction" key to be used in
cases where extra pathinfo is desired but neither screen or action are set.
(You could use /action/null/, but I thought it might be good to make it more
explicit.)
DynamicURI:
Look for a template parameter and place it first in the pathinfo without the
name "template" attached.
As Turbine moves towards templates as its default display mechanism, I think
it would be best to be able to specify the template path using normal path
separators. What are the problems with my proposal that could be overcome?
And please tell me any show stoppers.
