This is exactly the same situation we have.  Our users may upload many files
and clicking on a browse for each one is silly.  Since we need to control the
location of the files at the server, I was thinking of a java applet to build
the list and upload.  Netscape's WebMail has a javascript list that appears to
do multiple files, but just uploads each as it's selected, then adds it to the
list.  I think a good search of the web is in order before embarking on this. 
Seems like others may have solved this already.
