My further reply to your thoughts about concurrency (which I never sent)
basically said:
a) You seem to have a damn good grasp of the issues to me :-)
b) I would suggest that giving a guarantee of idempotency for the init()
methods of Initable is a good idea - it mirrors the guarantee of
idempotency that (I believe) the Servlet API provides for the init()
method of Servlet.
