I am interested in integrating scripting tools in
general. Dave and I chatted about it a while ago,
he wanted to add scripting so that you could write
portable scripts that could be picked up by the
scheduling service.
I have a scripting engine that works with JPython,
DynamicJava, and BeanShell. I am particularly
interested in JPython because you can use in
an interpretive mode, or the python scripts
can be compiled into Java classes.
I think it would be awesome if you could
write Turbine screens, navs, layouts
with python scripts. It could be a great
rapid prototyping environment. While testing
you could leave the system in interpretive
mode, when everything works you could
compile everything. I have sucessfully
integrated JPython in a number of things,
I love JPython.
Dave and I were also talking about trying
to integrate one of the smaller foot print
scripting into Ant. We were dreaming about
getting rid of the .bat|.sh files and
replacing them with .ant!
I have definitely thought about it but
have done nothing about it and probably
won't even be able to look at it for
quite a while.
But the short answer to your question
is yes :)
