I think that Jon prefers to use MySQL right now because he's more comfortable
with it. For the record, I prefer hSQL too. (I don't plan on installing MySQL on
my computer anytime soon. ;-)) Also, we can't distribute MySQL because it's GPL,
so it can't be the long-term solution.

I've committed some changes that make it easier to use hSQL instead - see the
'gather' target in tdk/src/newapp.xml for some blocks that you should
un-comment.

Thanks for the patches! I've committed most of them - i.e., those that haven't
been subsumed by recent changes of my own. Please check them for validity, as
some of them have little noticeable effect on my Win2K computer.
