I asked this same question when I first joined Turbine long ago, and Jon's
answer was that lots of (singleton) stuff was meant to be in services, but
because it was done B.S. (before services ;-) ) it should probably be moved.
I guess you could say that some code/classes in Turbine are "legacy" stuff,
and should be "done right" - which you guys are doing at the moment in fact!
