Thanks for your (and Dan's) quick response. I extracted the tarball
and saw no documentation. I did see the newapp.sh script so I decided
to run it. (Was that my first mistake?)
After correcting the permissions and removing all the ^M's from the
.sh files, newapp.sh ran without complaint. I then ran the
bin/startup.sh script, with the following output:
[travis] /home/turbine/tdk $ 2000-09-27 06:00:09 - ContextManager:
Adding context Ctx( /examples )
Starting tomcat. Check logs/tomcat.log for error messages
2000-09-27 06:00:09 - ContextManager: Adding context Ctx( /admin )
2000-09-27 06:00:09 - ContextManager: Adding context Ctx( /site )
2000-09-27 06:00:09 - ContextManager: Adding context Ctx( /cb )
2000-09-27 06:00:09 - PoolTcpConnector: Starting HttpConnectionHandler
on 8080
2000-09-27 06:00:09 - PoolTcpConnector: Starting
Ajp12ConnectionHandler on 8007
It wasn't clear what to do at this point, so I tried browsing
http://localhost:8080. It hangs forever. The file "logs/tomcat.log"
does not exist.
What should I do now? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I did search
the archives for quite a while, but I found nothing directly
relevant. If there's something online, please point me there. Also,
I'm making tape recorded notes of this process, so if there is need, I
will transcribe the successful installation process and post it to the
list.
