Log4J was creted at IBM and is now hosted on SourceForge. There were
rumours that it will join Jakarta project in the future.

Uncommenting that line gives *your* code the ability to call something
like
Log.note("security", "Joe logged in!"), nothing more.
Asking 'why doesn't it do what I think' is the fast way to getting
flamed
on this list, so it's better to take a look at the sources first :-)
