IIRC the example was built under a config system we no longer use. All I did to fix it was start a new project and copy over the controller, model, and templates. I found the trac that you were mentioning, but gave up before I could figure out which part of the code you wanted me to look at. There is only so much attempting to decipher a foreign language that my brain will tolerate on a Friday afternoon, and by this point most Python looks like a foreign language as well!
