thank you for your offer to help us with the TurboGears documentation by
doing translations to Spanish!
Currently most of the TG docs is only in English, there are only a few
documents translated into Russian, so your translation work would be a
bit of a pioneering effort. But don't be scared! I think that you should
just start and see how far you get and maybe this will encourage others
to join your effort.
I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the MoinMoin wiki and
ReStructuredText (ReST) syntax by looking at our documentation guidelines:
http://docs.turbogears.org/DocHelp
Then visit the documentation team page and put your self in the member
list at the bottom. Please also subscribe to the "turbogears-docs"
Google Group, where discussion about documentation issues should take place:
Doc Team page: http://docs.turbogears.org/DocTeam
Google Group: http://groups.google.com/group/turbogears-docs/
Once all the organisatonal stuff is done, I suggest you start by
translating the official installation instructions for TurboGears 1.0
into Spanish:
http://docs.turbogears.org/1.0/Install
The Spanish version of this page should be placed under the following
URL on the wiki:
http://docs.turbogears.org/es/1.0/Install
(You can replace "Install" with the Spanish translation, if you want.)
Similarly, all Spanish pages should go under a "/es/" URL prefix and
below that the structure should be the same as in the English part of
the wiki, e.g. docs for TurboGears version 1.0 should go under
"/es/1.0/", pages for TurboGears 2.0 under "/es/2.0" and so on.
When you have finished a Draft of the translation for the "Install"
page, please go to the Trac ticket system and open a task ticket,
requesting review of the document by somebody:
http://trac.turbogears.org/newticket?type=task&component=Docs&milestone=&version=1.0&keywords=doc+review
You need to register for a trac account first:
http://trac.turbogears.org/register
When the time comes, we should probably post on the main mailing list
again, and ask for other Spanish speakers to review your translation.
The next document to translate should probably be the 20-minute Wiki
tutorial.... But all in good time :-)
Thanks again for your offer for help, if you have any question, please
don't hesitate to ask me or, even better, write to the turbogears-docs
mailing list!
Best regards, Chris
