Elvelind's new expose changes are cool and Michele and Alberto have been really kicking some widget butt, but it's time to set 0.9 free.
I don't want people to be thinking about major features or refactoring for 0.9 at this point. It should all be about stabilizing and smoothing out 0.9 at this point. Major changes should start happening in First Class. That's why I'd like to flip things around. That will make this arrangement far clearer, I think. By the way: the First Class branch is probably completely non-functional right now. After 0.9a2, I'll put a little bit of work to get the config changes put in, which will make it fairly functional but there are still a number of failing tests. What this means for contributors: - helping to get First Class into shape over the next couple of months would be greatly appreciated - as you work on fixing things that are relevant to 0.9, we need to make sure fixes wind up in the 0.9 branch. (Or, if you specifically make the change on the 0.9 branch, we need to be sure fixes merge into First Class as well.) What this means for people following the trunk: - if you're trying to get real work done, you'll likely want to move over to the 0.9 branch after this happens. Or, you can just stick with the releases. - if you're trying to get real work done, you're not going to want to use First Class when it first appears. stuff is broken. My focus right now is really 0.9 cleanup. My purpose in making this switch is not to de-emphasize the work that's required on 0.9, but rather to emphasize that this release has reached a point of stability seeking...
