I remember reading on Phillip Eby's blog that he's been having some server issues. This could be related to that. By the time it reaches the externals, it has already checked out all of the TG code, so you should have an okay check out of TG itself. One of these days when things settle a bit, I'm going to get rid of the externals anyhow.
