I find all those good ideas but I don't want to end up with something
like zope buildout http://www.zope.org/DevHome/Buildout/

why not just push all this upgrades into the eggs? maybe add extras to
the SO/SA eggs for the drivers? I'm not sure how extensive the extras
are but it could be a nice option
