I'll respond with a question (don't ya hate that?) To what end is the config format changing? In scenarios where you're only running one TG app in a server, the config file doesn't need to change, right? So, where your question is going likely has more to do with the scenario where you want to run multiple apps within one server. Given that, backwards compatibility (probably with a deprecation warning) can be maintained for people who are only running one app within a server.
