It looks like Pylons will have a release in the next day or two, with all of the things we need for TG2.
There will be some significant changes to the DB connectivity in the Pylons version following the next release, but I think we should make the current DB setup work now and update things when the SAContext stuff lands. The Transaction mangement stuff may take a bit, and I'd be willing to move forward with an alpha release even before it lands. But before we do an alpha we need a sample TG2 application to show off, and a bit of documentation. We also need to further test our object dispatch system, and write quite a few more tests.
