This could be done but won't be needed (and will "get in the way") if the middleware is configured to inject resources using lxml. I'd like to make this the preferred approach to include js & css since it's so much cleaner not to mix controller code with widget imports (albeit it can only serialize HTML at the moment) once it gets more testing.
