Hi everybody,
thanks to Chris Percious' hard work, the questionnaire for TurboGears'
application for the GSoC 2008 is now in pretty good shape and we already
have nine persons who volunteered as mentors!
There are, however, a few points that I would like to see improved
before handing in the application:
Question 1)
This needs more description of our project organization. At the moment
the answer describes TurboGears the software, not the TurboGears the
project.
Question 2)
This is a bit too marketing-speech heavy IMHO, the crucial point - why
do we want to participate? - is only really addressed in the last paragraph.
I would like to have a little bolder statement here: we want to be a
major contender for the leading web framework in Python-land and we want
to achieve this without one single big organisation standing behind us.
The project has lost some ground in the public perception because of the
long time it took us to get on track for TurboGears 2 and some problems
in sorting out the project vision and leadership. But I think we have a
very good developer base now and have set things up to quickly move
forward. We want to regain some of the lost ground and increase the
public visibility of the framework (again). Therefore, we want to
increase our developer base and have the coolest tools for web
development available, that Python has to offer, so that we can showcase
the capabilities of TurboGears to everyone.
Question 14)
Can this answer be rephrased and cleared up a bit? I had to read it
three times to get the meaning...
