I would very much like to see this CSS stuff go into TG2, but I don't think
that it's a blocker for 1.9.7 final, since it shouldn't break anybody's tg2
app, it will just make creating new tg2 apps easier.

Also, I'm not opposed to doing another tg2 release relatively soon after
1.9.7 final if we have a compelling set of new features that show up in the
next little bit.

Yea, I found Ian's presentation about Deliverance at PloneConf to be very
compelling, and while I'm not convinced that most tg2 apps will use it I
think it's likely to be come a great way to theme tg2 apps, and a great way
to combine data from multiple apps into a single page.
