The difference, is that the RUM team features the most cruel early bird (it's 7am and I am sitting in my office).
Honestly, if I am asked, if RUM is something like Catwalk, I always deny. Catwalk was a very nice, beautiful tool for web application programmers, to fill some values into their database. It had some configurability (order columns,...), but that was quite limited. In practical situations, where you write software not just for yourself, there is usually a high demand on features, adjustments and usually no app exists, satisfying at least the minimal requirements. So, after some while, you begin to writen something mediocre from scratch. This is where RUM comes into play: On top of a very well constructed architecture, we have just crazy configurability. For example: My users have the quite exotic, but very reasonable wish, not to have to enter every accent in a search query. Every solution, that doesn't provide it, is a no go. Now, RUM features a generic, extensible function for string normalization (just very fresh from this weekend). Michael P.S.: By the way, while we don't have a rich client yet, we provide some nice JS enriched widgets, and you can extend rum by registering your favorite widgets. P.P.S.: Thanks to Chris for all his work to push TG2 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TurboGears Trunk" group.
