Finally. It's been a while, and I've been putting off making any choices because no matter which one I made, I felt like I was dissing *somebody*.
Last night, I finally made my choice. Pyramid/Orion is a great choice for the community. It's definitely the way that TG needs to move forward as a project, and it's the way to help the whole Python web world move forward and try to get away from Django. I'm going to be a bit of a Luddite, though. I like TG2. It's the first web framework that ever managed to make actual sense to me (and I've tried a slew of them). All the others just didn't quite sit right. They could work, but they never worked the way I felt they should. TG2 did, and does. So,m for the foreseeable future, I'm going to work on and with 2.2. That should free up the resources for a bunch of other developers to make Orion a reality. And, until then, I'll try to make TG2 better and better. On that note, we have a lot of changes that we need to do. If I announced all of them right now, you'd all roll your eyes, shake your head, and think I'm being quite crazy. I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'm going to start with the smaller stuff. I've already converted the bitbucket repositories to git, and have the git clones on my machine at home. In the next day or so, Mark is going to set me up to have access on sf.net to upload the clones, and we're going to switch most (if not all) of the web hosting infrastructure over to sf.net for TG. The easy part is already done, though we might well reorganize things a bit inside of those repositories (to use branches instead of separate repositories). After that comes the hardest part: Switching our ticket tracker over. This is going to take a little bit. I'd love to have it done by this weekend, but I know that's not feasible. If I'm lucky, next weekend might be able to be done. I'm going to try, anyway. I have seen the lists, and I have seen people wanting to do things. I just haven't responded, or picked up, because I wasn't ready to do so. I am now. And I can promise you this: TG is far from dead. It might take us a month or two to get ourselves reorganized and moving forward, but we will get our act together again. And, last of all, I want to say I'm sorry. I didn't handle the Pyramid/Orion news well, and that was rather asinine of me. I'll do better with such things in future. -- Michael J.
