Tonight we bring a rather nice status update, I think.

We're almost entirely moved off of WebFaction's server. Christoph is working
on converting the 1.x docs to Sphinx. That's the last big hurdle. In
addition, this is the final time I'll be posting a status report exclusively
to the mailing list. One of the pages that I'll be creating this week will
be updated regularly as news from the TG world. Not sure what all that will
encompass, not yet, but it will be done. But, enough of that:

*What Got Done?*
Actually, a lot of good stuff got done. Thanks to Diez, F. Poirotte, and
Alessandro Molina, we've improved the beta.turbogears.org website in fairly
significant ways. We turned all the static content that was being served by
Paster into static content being served by Apache. F. Poirotte asked the
right question, Diez's response explained the problem in such a way that I
finally understand it well, and Alessandro did some work on the docs that
helped show me how to do the TW resource extraction.

I put all of that knowledge to use over the weekend, and got rid of the
/toscawidgets/resources/ in the url problem once and for all on the new
site. I'm happy.

We got trac.turbogears.org moved to the new server. Tomorrow morning, the
DNS entries will be updated.

We've gotten the /2.0/docs and /2.1/docs urls fully migrated. I've also
added in the work from Christoph to use the new theme for the 2.1 docs.
Eventually, we'll merge all the docs down to 1 single set of pages. For now,
though, they can be viewed at http://beta.turbogears.org/2.0/docs/ ,
http://beta.turbogears.org/2.1/docs ,
http://beta.turbogears.org/2.0/downloads/ ,
http://beta.turbogears.org/2.1/downloads/

I think we've reached a point where we can complete the move by the next
status update. It finally feels realistic.

*Where Are We Now?*
Alessandro has begun working on the tickets, and I'd like to say thank you
to him for that. Once we complete this move, I'll begin my own work on them.
Most of the functions provided by the WebFaction server are now hosted
elsewhere. It's not totally done, but it's close.

*What Will Get Done This Week?*
This week is, for me, mostly a focus on cleanup and content. We have a CMS
on the new server, and I intend to begin using it fully. We're going to keep
new content coming, and keep the site more alive with it from now on.

I do have one bit of bad news, though it (hopefully) won't affect me much:
I'm in the market for a job again. Ideally in Central NJ or Central/Eastern
PA. If anybody knows of anything, I'd like to hear about it. I'm not
currently unemployed, but I do want out of where I am.

All humans fail, in both great and small ways we fail continually.
Machines fail too. Computers are machines that are managed by humans, the
fallout from failure can be spectacular. Your responsibility is to deal with
failure, to anticipate it and to eliminate it as far as is humanly and
economically wise to achieve. Are your actions part of the problem or part
of the solution?
