As I'm getting near the end of the targets that got decided for 2.2 release during the last meeting, I decided to write here to update the other development team members of the current status and ask some help with testing. 2.2.X is going to be the last set of releases to use Pylons, so it is going to be a long term support version but as it got also some major changes it requires a lot of testing. I have been using the development branch for all my TG projects since a few weeks and they all seem to work correctly, but any more real world testing is really appreciated.
The major changes include: - repoze.what-quickstart and repoze.what-pylons packages are not required anymore and got removed from the dependencies - Crank is now the dispatch system, this together with various performance improvements got a 2x performance boost in TurboGears. - ToscaWidgets2 is now the default widgets system and tgext.crud/admin got ported to it. - I made a big refactoring of the TG2 documentation, created the "deprecated" section for old or invalid tutorials and made more prominent important pieces of the doc. All those changes are quite invasive and require a lot of testing! As soon as I finish some minor targets I would like to achieve for 2.2 like merging the Carlos patch for Jinja2 quickstart, and implementing built in master/slave databases support I would like to push out the release. Hope we will be able to get it out before the end of April. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TurboGears Trunk" group.
