I'm part of the /. otherwise might not have seen the 20 minute wiki tutorial.
I flat out refused to do anything in TG until I got the TextMate on an imac to use openvpn to a samba server that would execute the server a much larger machine. (on freebsd of course) I had seen ruby on rails, several things got me interested: 1. A lightweight framework that helped me get tasks done 2. TextMate One thing really turned me off: 1. Ruby Why, after Perl, PHP and Python would I have to learn Ruby? So sure, I found CherryPy, but not what I was looking for, I didn't know what other parts I could mix in to create a rubyonrails. Even my google searches failed me with what I had to put in as queries, and so I ended up just waiting and thinking 'someone will do this in python'. All the new PHP pages I was writing were starting to get really complex, not to mention I was about to throw in a bunch of AJAX. I needed to get into one language and stay there, otherwise i'd never get anywhere. So to make a long story short, I got the rubyonrails that was needed without the ruby. I needed it the python way, and I haven't even touched quickstart, or implementing my own template systems for personal touch. I have a feeling that the intense image galleries I looked for are just a step away with TurboGears (not to mention kid, sqlobjects, mochikit and cherrypy). May the project prosper and it's many authors continue to make it easier to deal with information overload.
