A simple logon may help to stop the automated spammers, but the manual ones will soon find the password.
I believe that trac (via apache) can be set up to authenticate against MySQL... Again, that would be hassle but would stop the spammers. It just depends how much attention the wiki is going to attract. An alternative to the wiki may be to use a writeboard[1] or some similar collaboration tool? That is still hassle though, perhaps even more so.
