I assume I can use

<link href="" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet">

to link to my style.css file.  Right?

However, when I put my <div...> and the rest of my html into the
master.kid file, I get all sorts of errors when I load the page.

What am I missing?

A little slash.

Kid templates must be valid xhtml documents, which means you must have a close tag for every tag. For tags that have no close tags, such as <link> and <br>, you ad a slash to the end of the tag, thus:

<br />

and

<link href="" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />

That will remove a lot of the errors and let you concentrate on the same mistakes I've been making along the way :-)
