Thanks for the reply- I wrote something very similar shortly after my post to see how Cherry reacted. Unfortunately when I kill the pid that is written out, it only kills that process- it leaves the other thread around indefinitely. I guess I should probably ask in the CherryPy group to see what they say about that.
