This was mentioned just before you got here. The idea is that projects grow new features and it takes a while to produce documentation and it's generally not done before the features are stable and a release is coming up. Devcasts are an attempt to informally explain what's going on in these new features. Apparently these devcasts take a minimal amount of time to produce so Kevin can keep us up to date without spending a bunch of time on docs. Think of it as the guy in the next cubicle explaining how to use the code he just wrote. The features described are supposed to be documented eventually and the devcast is supposed to expire at some ponit, but we haven't hit that yet.
