I reinstalled the OS and will be doing this a little more methodically
this time.

I have been following your emails for a little while now, and I am surprised that no one has suggested that you don't use DarwinPorts. Its a really bad way to install Python on a Mac, in my opinion, and it ends up putting it in bizarre places that probably confuse things quite a bit.

I recommend that you go here:

    http://undefined.org/python/#pimp

and download the pre-compiled, double clickable package installer for Python 2.4.1 and then follow the very straight-forward easy_install method on the TurboGears website. I have done this 3-4 times, and have never had a problem.

Best of luck.
