Currently the Identity framework relies upon providers which will be closely coupled to the underlying DB library (or IMAP or LDAP or whatever). That's just life. However, this scheme allows you to swap in the library of your choice.

It might be nice to define an extension interface similar to the providers so that you can swap out SQLObject and replace it with SQLAlchemy or whatever your choice is. And the automatic transactions will still work, and there will be an identity provider, and who knows...
