I would be interested in such a project, but I'd urge you to go for SQLObject compatibility. It looks like you've started in that direction, but it isn't a priority.
I've switched my new TG development from SQLObject to SQLAlchemy because most of my development is on legacy databases and SQLObject just doesn't work for that usage scenario. I'd like to see this happen sooner rather than later, so I'll see what I can do with this tonight.
