1. HTML and JavaScript are fine if for recreating a modern version of the printed page. Just suggesting all the P languages miss a chance to expand their capabilities by not creating Open Source swf files for common use. The Flash Tool is closed source, the content doesn't have to be.
2. Maybe ActionScript gets judged by the hacks that use it (such as myself), and not by its capabilities. Better quality coders could do alot more with Flash than is normally done. Just opinion. Serious JavaScript weaknesses compared to Flash (I could be very wrong, most of my knowledge of JavaScript is from watching the web, not coding JavaScript.) 1. No strong sense of time. Invaluable for creating a nice user experience. 2. No movie clip, let alone nested movie clips. Nothing visual for a coder or graphics person to hang their content on and have alot of nice built in behaviors. Call me crazy (it's could be true), but a graphical display system that can't handle x and y's, scaling and rotating in its sleep is by definition deficient. Movie Clips are an outstanding idea. 3. No easy way to integrate audio/video into the document where the programmer can control it and sync it to the documents content. 4. Standard interface for a graphical person to work on the content. JavaScript - Did not compete.
