I've already commented on the ticket, anyway with r913 I've cleaned up CompoundWidgets and your patch should be a lot easier now, I'm lacking free time now can you give it a shoot at porting it to the new CompoundWidget? Take a look at Form and FieldSet as an example. Thanks for the patch.
