AFAIK with the current version of SQLObject making changes to an
existing table is not supported. Depending on the database you use a
database editor can mostly preserve the 'no-sql involved' experience.

There is a sqlobject-admin tool that can compare your model to the
database and list missing or extraneous columns. That should help in
getting the model code to fit your altered tables. Unfortunately it
does not appear to support any kind of checking other than column
names, so for that you are left on your own.
