Ever since seeing Edward Tufte speak, I'm very against traditional PowerPoint (bullet point-filled slides). I'm much more into the "zen" style presentation. I think having graphics we can all use/reuse is helpful.
Additionally, I've started doing my presentations in TurboGears. I've got a trivial little tool called "tgpresent" which I pulled out of my "Effective Ajax with TurboGears" presentation. If you download my presentation files you can get the idea. The cool thing about presenting from within TurboGears is that TG demos run seamlessly with the rest of the presentation. There's no context switch at all (take a look at my Effective Ajax screencast to see what I mean). So, rather than the bullet point style, what I generally do is come up with the main points of the whole presentation and turn those into slides with just a few words. Then, I try to replace those with a visual. I'm glad you brought up presentations, though, because I would like to get some things together to encourage people to present TurboGears locally. I've found that meeting with local users groups and going to other gathers has gotten a very good reception, and I'd love to hear about that happening elsewhere.
