yeah we currently are doing file uploads in Fast Track that I know are bigger than that.

Try using the asyncore-based scgi/wsgi server that we use in Fast
Track.  You can find it in SVN at:

    http://cleverdevil.org/fasttrack

We have had good luck with it.
