Hello All,

I saw a post from Kevin regarding using things like Paste and generally making TurboGears more "pasteable" in that is can easily combine and add different applications. I think this is a great idea and one of the biggest benefits of using something like Paste.

My question then is why is the Identity Manager piece included in the base install when it seems it should really be added as an new application using some sort of paste-type piece behind wsgi. I am not sure if there was a discussion already on this topic so if there is, just point me to the link.

The reason I bring this is up is because the concept of "middleware" that paste seems to employ, seems very similar to the concept of aspects in AOP. The big difference is that instead of adding Aspect Oriented features to a language, it is considered when designing the application and can be applied there. In the case of wsgi and tools like paste, middleware is a great place for Identity Management because it is application agnostic.

Again, if there has already been a discussion of this, can someone send a link?

Thanks!

Eric
