Thanx for all the great replies! I didn't know it is so simple to write a standalone script to update the database. This is a much better solution then using the server startup hook. I agree with Jorge that it would be nice to have a special option in the tg-admin script for this. Or otherwise have a simple example in the documentation that shows how to do this. I guess this is exactly what http://www.turbogears.org/svn/docudo/trunk/Docudo/install.identity.py does.. ;-)
