Regarding Kid: Kid's main problems are the opaque error messages and the need to drink a good amount of kool-aid in order to understand all its implications and make use of them. If you get it, it solves a lot of templating problems quite elegantly, but it is frustrating if you're just trying to use it like a normal templating language. Kid has a few warts, but it's not that bad overall.
