I use TG on python-hosting.com successfully. The trick was to use Ian Bicking's "non-root" python to install python, easy_install and TG in $HOME. I blogged about it on maxischenko.in.ua as well as posted to TG Wiki, see http://trac.turbogears.org/turbogears/wiki/TurboGearsOnSharedHostingAccount.
PS: At that time hoster provided TG 0.8 only which was not an option.
