Have you tried to checkout from other remote SVN repositories? Try to
checkout something from the Trac repository
(http://svn.edgewall.com/repos/trac/) once using "http", once using
"https".
If the first fails and the second succeeds this is a problem with an
improperly configured proxy or firewall that only permits the standard
HTTP methods (GET, POST, etc.). The WebDAV methods used by SVN are not
getting through on http, but https works since the firewall can't read
inside the secure requests. Try talking to you IT staff about getting
this fixed. However, if possible, the TurboGears admins should probably
enable https requests to the repository for users that are unable to get
through the red tape to fix this properly.
ohh I'll try that at work.
I'm just getting a timeout and fixing the proxy there is near to imposible for buroracy ..... I'll try the secure URL on monday. thanks for the tip, and sorry for the misleading reply earlier
