I understand your point. However, as explained on the JCT Trac, JCT is
inspired by TAL/METAL which is simply different from kid. Using a more
kid-like syntax would probably make more sense for Turbogear users
(eventhough I myself use PageTemplates with TG), but in general I
think TAL is more common.

Addiitonally, some constructs I use are simply not available in kid,
i.e. macro's, the magic repeat variable. So it will never be a
one-on-one match, and the similarities might actually be more
confusing than helpfull.

Still, I'll take your suggestion in consideration. Perhaps I can
implement a 'kid identity' that makes JCT behave more in a kid-like
way, if other people would appreciate it as well.
