SQLObject remains the official choice, because it's more mature and has better support from the tools. It's unclear what the version number will be when SQLAlchemy takes over, but there are things to be done before we reach that point. Unless you're really aware of the tradeoffs you're making in choosing SQLAlchemy at this point, you're better off with SQLObject.
