In the mean time, it is indeed very easy to use any version by simply
loging in via ssh and then drop an egg into $HOME/lib/python2.4
hi Tim, let me give you a better reply :)
Ok, so this is where it's confusing for this n00b. I spend my life on Windows. When I need to install a Python lib I invariably just easy_install and I'm done. I suppose I could just easy_install on my Windows box and then copy the egg to my Webfaction account -- is that the recommended approach?
or you could just download the files from the url you pass into easy_install or you could log into the shell and use wget (not sure about that one and the outgoing connection policy they have.
Kevin thanks for the easy_install idea but that doesn't seem to work out-of-the-box on Webfaction and I'm too scared to tinker around.
yes that's because they wont give you access to "installers" but the way it is setup dropping the eggs will do, as Sylvain said.
Oh and by the way you should delete any trace of the older install if you had one.
Sylvain, do you work for Webfaction? I have been using the control panel ticket system but posted here as well in the hopes that I might get a faster response. Figured it couldn't hurt.
the ticket system is great, Remi already replies in less then a day, and don't worry to ask he always have the right answers :p
Thanks very much for all the replies.
Tim
