In the kid file the doctype is XHTML. I also created a static html file with just a canvas drawn and a CSS link, the doctype is HTML by default. I have the same problems, where it draws correctly in FF/Opera but not Safari when the CSS file is linked, but when it is inline or not included at all the canvas draws.
