Kevin, Maybe setting up database replication between the mirrors would be helpful. Both MySQL and PostgreSQL offer replication. Further, Pound HTTP proxy has easy-to-use failover capabilities, so if you added that to the mix you might be able to make the whole thing fairly transparent. Creating such a setup might make for an interesting article on TurboGears scalability/failover options.
